Runners, Joggers and Walkers today met in Oxford University Parks to help raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research. Seas of women (and some dogs!) in pink hats, wigs, skirts, shorts and t-shirts made their way around the parks on a 5KM circuit. Well done to all those taking part and for raising money for a very worthy cause.
Hundreds of people came to the show to see the ponies, dog show and highland bands and dancing held in the grounds of the Sue Ryder hospice at Nettlebed.
We spoke to organisers Sarah Buckner and Charlotte Snowden about the event and how it came about. And spoke to the guest of honour, Bob Champion MBE, the courageous jockey who battled against cancer before winning the Grand National at Aintree in 1981.
The John Radcliffe's Women's Centre in Oxford stands 100ft tall, people young and old took part in a sponsored abseiling event organised by Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Charitable Funds. We spoke to Sarah Vacccari from Charitable Funds about the event and the various charities that were benefiting on the day.
Oliver, aged 2, has Spastic Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy. He has been given the opportunity to have Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) in America. This will enable him to do things that like sit, stand and walk! To do this, Olivers family need to raise £72,000! http://www.helpoliverwalk.co.uk
Take one top TV Chef, one football team chairman, two air horns and a thousand runners, mix them all up in the beautiful surroundings of Blenheim Palace and you've got yourselves the Oxford Mail OX5 Run. Raising essential funds for The Oxford Children's Hospital, runners from across the county took part in run, in the sun! Congratulations to all those that ran on the day and many thanks to Charitable Funds, The Oxford Mail, Blenheim Palace and JackFM for organising such a great occasion. Next Raymond Blanc has promised to join the runners, should make the 2013 race a recipe for success!
Oxfordshire Community Foundation invited us along to the launch of the Jubilee Fund which aims to help the most vulnerable people in the County for years to come.
Not something you normally expect to see in the centre of Oxford but Sunday the 11th of December was an exception. 1,200 Santa's took to the streets raising funds for Helen & Douglas House.

World's Biggest Coffee Morning - Macmillan Cancer Support

Rev Derek Spears is on a mission to visit 14 PACT centres around the Thames Valley region collecting contributions for a time capsule to mark the centenary of PACT and thanking staff, families and supporters for all their efforts as this tour marks his imminent retirement from the charity after 25 years of loyal service as a trustee. David Walliams has completed the Oxfordshire stage of his task to swim the Thames. We filmed him arriving at Henley-On-Thames for spot of lunch and a massage or two before he set off again.

Four friends set out on a canoe trip to raise money for help for heroes. We met them for lunch on their second day when they stopped at Tadpole Bridge near Bampton.
Bike Blenheim happens each year and is a special day where the grounds are opened up for cyclists. There's also the Brompton race, where entrants have to race to their bike, unfold it and then do two laps of the course. After the race there's the family ride. We went along to this years event and spoke to Hannah Payne and Claire Pulford, the ladies told us all about the day and how it raises awareness as well as vital funds for Breast Cancer Care. All in all, a wonderful event at a beautiful estate in Oxfordshire.
James Howard is going to swim across the English Channel in aid of Footsteps, a charity based in Dorchester-On-Thames. James' son Aiden was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy over a year ago, with help provided by Footsteps, Aiden is now able to crawl, sit up unaided and has even started to walk with a little help from Dad. A team of fundraisers took to the road earlier this week and have cycled from Carterton to Paris raising money for Heads Up, the head and neck cancer charity. Shipton-Under-Wychwood was the setting for a charity run in aid of the Willow Foundation. Tony Lock, Chairman of the Witney Road Runners tells us about the foundation that was supported by one of their members, Danielle Basson, who sadly died of cancer earlier this year at the age of 31.
Last year we popped down to AWT's Kew Grill to film a piece for Children in Need, children from a local school came along to make some cakes and we all got to meet Pudsey too!
British Heart Foundation - Six-a-side Football Tournament
Jason Poole organised a six-a-side football tournament in memory of his late father Robert Poole who collapsed and died from a heart attack playing football 17 years ago. Players from the Witney & District League not only showed their skills but also their support for such a great cause too! British Heart Foundation - Six-a-side Football Tournament
Thame Round Table invited us over to their 2011 Duck Race. Things didn't go quite to plan as the wind was blowing the ducks the wrong way up the river. Never fear though, the local fire brigade were on hand to save the day and the ducks got the ultimate jet wash to get them going. We spoke to Stuart Groves of the round table who told us more about the event.
We were invited to a Street Party in the centre of Oxford featuring a collection of small charities and a fantastic organisation that helps them to raise their profiles as well as revenue.
Silver Star celebrated their 40th Anniversary by hosting a sponsored stroll in the University Parks. The Oxfordshire based charity has helped over 14,000 expectant mums through more complicated pregnancies over the years and is currently raise money to buy a new state of the art scanner. Runners gathered at Blenheim Palace to take part in the Blenheim 7K Fun Run. The event included a children's 1 mile run plus a performance from Unleashed.
Dance teacher Kirsty Beer organised a charity show to raise money for Sobell House. Held at the Kings Centre in Osney, a great night of entertainment was had by all, raising over £900.
Over 1000 people entered this years OX5 run in aid of the Oxford Childrens Hospital. We caught the action and spoke to Top Chef Raymond Blanc who started this years event.
The Cotswold Wildlife Park held it's very first dog show in aid of Comic Relief. Dogs of all shapes and sizes entered various categories including 'Best at catching doggie treats'.
